Forty Holy Martyrs Church - Veliko Tarnovo - The Forty Holy Martyrs temple is one of the most prominent medieval churches in Veliko Tarnovo. It is located in the foot of the Tsarevets fortress. It was built and frescoed in honour of the victory of Tsar Ivan Asen II over the Epirus despot Teodor Komnin at Klokotnitsa on 22 March 1230.
