Veliko Tarnovo played an important role on the European economic and political scene during the Second Bulgarian Kingdom (1185 – 1396). Nowadays it continues to maintain the historical spirit for the generations, preserved the witnesses from the past in the Asenevtsi monument, the Tsarevets and Trapezitsa hills, the Samovodska market, the Sarafkina house and Gurko Street. An integral part of its appearance is the audio-visual performance Tsarevgrad Tarnov - Sound and Light, which has been telling Bulgarian history in a unique way for more than 30 years.
