The route is about 150 km long. It is well-marked, with plenty of information signs, billboards and alcoves, shelters, fountains, and benches along the way. This route passes via 18 natural sights and protected areas, mostly along the ridge of the elevation Chernatitsa.
On Bulgarian territory, the route starts in Rila and enters the Rhodopes in the region of village of Avramovo by going through the most interesting places in the Rhodopes: dams, gorges, caves, natural sightseeings, sanctuaries. The route is accessible during the greater part of the year and ends in the foot of the Rhodopes by the village of Mezek.
In the mountain near Velingrad, there are routes marked with the appropriate indications and information signs. Many kilometres to various natural and historical sights near Velingrad, Yundola, Draginovo, and the Starina locality are accessible to everyone.
Eco trail between the villages of Zhrebichko and Ravnogor — the hike lasts about 6 hours and it goes along the ridges above Vacha Dam. The tourists walk through different picturesque localities, beautiful views to the Thracian plane.
Struilitsa - Lakata Eco Trail — 8-km long located in the protected area called Devin River Valley. Tourists go through systems of bridges and suspended trails over the swift currents and pools near the river as they can enjoy the specific atmosphere near the several waterfalls.
The constructed Waterfalls Canyon eco trail near Smolyan is about 6 km long, the level difference is about 700 m, and it peaks at about 1700 m altitude. Among the 40 waterfalls, the highest is the Orpheus waterfall with height of 60 m. There is a Visitor Centre in the canyon where you can find information for the biodiversity in the region and any tourism options there.
In Orpheus' Steps Adventure Route – visit of the Devil's Throat — it is believed that there Orpheus went down in the underground kingdom of Hades to search for his beloved Euridice; Orpheus Mount — the second highest in the Rhodopes; Orpheus Waterfall — part of the Waterfall Canyons eco trail near Smolyan, and the sanctuary near village of Tatul in the Momchilgrad area where archaeologists believe that Orpheus grave is located.
