It is held in May in the town of Shumen. The first International Piano Competition was held in 1986. After a break of 13 years, the second edition of the competition for pianists and violinists followed in 1999. It was dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of the great Bulgarian composer Pancho Vladigerov. The international competition is held every four years.
The festival was founded in 1961. A special jury decides on awards for Best Contemporary Film, Best Screenplay, Best Director, Best Cinematography, Best Performance by a Female or Male Actor, etc.
This competition is one of the most prestigious world events in the field of ballet art. It was founded by artists from Bulgaria and members of the international jury of its first edition: Galina Ulanova, Alicia Alonso, Arnold Haskell, Serge Lifar, Fyodor Lopukhov, Tatiana Vecheslova, Elizabeth Kennedy, etc.
The Varna Summer International Theatre Festival is the largest international theatre event in Bulgaria. It takes place every year between the 1st and the 11th of June in Varna as part of the Varna Summer Arts Festivals. Its main purpose is to present the main trends in Bulgarian and international stage practice and to create a space for intercultural dialogue, exchange and market.
Founded in Varna in 1926, the Varna Summer International Music Festival is the first music festival in Bulgaria. Having gained national and international prestige, today the festival is a representative forum of the Bulgarian and world musical creativity and performance art in the field of music.
