The first chemical analysis of mineral water in Bulgaria was carried out in 1882 from five mineral springs in Hisarya. For this purpose, the government of Eastern Rumelia issued "Regulations for the operation of the Hisarya Baths." It is believed that this was the official beginning of modern balneotherapy in our country.
On November 19, 1976, the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Bulgaria (then NRB – National Republic of Bulgaria), made a decision with number 199, declaring "Ancient town in Hisar Resort" an archaeological reserve. The decision was published in issue 97 of the State Gazette of the same year.
The archaeological reserve "Ancient town in Hisar Resort" is an immovable cultural property of national importance in the register of the National Institute for Immovable Cultural Heritage (NIHN). The uniqueness of the place and everything that happened there is still being revealed and provokes interest, both among visitors and scientists, such as archaeologists and historians.
Ivan Vazov gave his consent for the community centre newly created in 1904 in the town of Hisarya to bear his name. The first autographed books donated by him marked the beginning of the library collection. The community board maintained a constant relationship with the writer who several times donated autographed books and books by other authors to the library. From that time, an original metal seal with the image of Ivan Vazov (the first seal of the Hisarya Community Center) has been preserved.
