Dimitrovgrad Municipality was established by a Decree of the Council of Ministers in 1974, a result of state planning from the era of socialism, and one of the greenest places in Bulgaria with three huge parks:
Nikola Vaptsarov - located on 821 acres with 40 year old oak forest of black pine, red American oak, white spruce, white fir, various flowering shrubs, etc.
Maritsa - a magnificent terrace on the banks of the river with an area of 1400 acres, with a sports complex, outdoor stages, athletics track. Here is also the Alley of the Giants: the big benches, the big table and chair.
The Sanctuary of the Nymphs and Aphrodite is a complex of about 15 acres and the best preserved Thracian sanctuary in Bulgaria, erected on the ruins of an ancient cult centre that originated around mineral springs in the Early Iron Age.
