Plovdiv - The European Capital of Culture in 2019 and one of the oldest cities in Europe - older than Rome and a contemporary of Troy and Mycenae. According to the British DAILY TELEGRAPH, Plovdiv is the sixth oldest city in the world and the oldest in Europe in terms of continuity of life - life here has never stopped since the founding of the city. It has been named NUMBER ONE in THREE CATEGORIES in the prestigious ranking of the best European destination: Best Cultural Destination, Best Wine Destination and Best Romantic Destination 2022.

The Municipality of Stara Zagora is a real treasure for explorers - you can walk through the homes of people who lived 8 thousand years ago, along a perfectly preserved ancient street of the Roman city of Augusta Trayana, feel the spirit of the Renaissance and embark on many other missions of discovery. You will have the opportunity to practice various sports, enjoy a varied cultural program, plan a business or corporate trip, stroll through numerous parks and gardens or take advantage of relaxing spa treatments.

The municipality of Svilengrad has been inhabited since ancient times due to its favourable natural features and strategic geographical location - since the New Stone and Stone Age. The most significant traces are to be found in the Thracian tribe of Odrysi and the Romans. Evidences are: the tomb in the village of Mezek - one of the most monumental structures, repeatedly used for burials of Thracian aristocrats.

The municipality of Kaloyanovo surprises with various opportunities for tourism - cultural, religious, rural, cognitive, hunting, spa and ecotourism.

Passing through the fragrant and picturesque rose fields near the villages of Begovo, Ivan Vasovo, Otets Paisievo and Sukhozem in early summer is an experience to remember. And the small wineries offer you to taste, according to Thracian legends, "a sacred drink connecting people with the gods". 

Nova Zagora Municipality known as "The Mecca of Archaeology" holds memories of past eras. Stories about them are told by the expositions in the Historical Museum in the town. There are preserved traces of the distant times, the most ancient of which date back 8 millennia. There are exhibits from the many archaeological mounds in the region, one of which is the Karanovo settlement mound, called not by chance "the palace of Thracian prehistory".

Dimitrovgrad Municipality was established by a Decree of the Council of Ministers in 1974, a result of state planning from the era of socialism, and one of the greenest places in Bulgaria with three huge parks:

1. Nikola Vaptsarov - located on 821 acres with 40 year old oak forest of black pine, red American oak, white spruce, white fir, various flowering shrubs, etc.

Over 300 cultural monuments, mounds, settlements, tombs, statuettes, columns have been discovered in Maritsa municipality. They reveal a rich history from the earliest antiquity - from the time of the Thracians, through the era of Roman rule to the present day. The calendar of cultural events shows the rich cultural life, full of many celebrations and performances with various amateur art activities.

Parvomai municipality - from millennia of man's existence in the area there are settlement and burial mounds, ancient settlements and necropolises, medieval settlements and fortresses, pagan and Christian temples. The most valuable find of the era is a gold plate used as jewellery and can be considered one of the oldest processed gold products in the world.

In the less-known municipality of Topolovgrad you will be able to feel the might of Bulgarian and Byzantine warriors next to the remains of their medieval fortresses. You will also have the opportunity to hear the religious whispers amidst the beautiful scenery of the Orthodox temples built centuries ago, the pure nature and see unique monuments built thousands of years ago:

• The Paleokastro Megalith is a Thracian fortress built 1st millennium BC and a presumed Thracian solar sanctuary;

The municipality of Peruschitsa is located in a unique natural area, combining the coolness of the mountains and a wealth of archaeological artifacts. The Red Church - the Scarlet Temple of St. Mary is considered one of the pearls of early Christian architecture in Europe. Be sure to visit the Monastery of Sts. Theodore of Tyrone and Theodore Stratilat and the historic Church of St. Archangel Michael - the last fortress and refuge of the inhabitants of Perushtitsa, who rebelled in April 1876 against the Ottoman rule.

Harmanli - in the immediate vicinity you can enjoy artifacts from the Early Iron Age, along with cultural and educational routes. Many places of interest and experiences await you, including - the Roman Road - Via Diagonalis, the remains of the fortress of Castra Rubra, built in the early 6th century, etc. Besides its beautiful nature, the area is also attractive for its particular mystery. The Thracians left vivid traces of themselves here through numerous cult temples, tombs and dolmens. 

Chirpan Municipality is proud to showcase 290 million years of history on its lands. Explore the rich culture and variety of festivals, go as a pilgrim to the oldest monastery in Europe or fall in love with the lavender and sunflower fields.

The natural treasures of the Municipality of Brezovo, the clean air and water, the green forests and the historical heritage offer the ecotourism and hiking enthusiasts the opportunity to enjoy scenic routes and beautiful mountain villages in a remarkable combination with mystical megaliths.

Above the village of Babek rises Gradishte Mount, the Lilac Sanctuary and a 2.5 m high rock formation in the shape of a flame - the Straight Stones.
