The kuker holidays of Sirni zagovezni in Pavel Banya – this holiday takes place during the so-called Sirna Week and the local population calls it the "Carnival" and the kukers are called "Old Men." The kuker games are a colourful, spirited pre-spring folk custom. At the end of winter, they were expected and greeted with great interest by young and old. Through kuker rituals, man in the past sought to magically influence nature, believing that the higher the kukeri jumped, the higher the crops would grow, the farther the iron clang of clappers and bells could be heard, the evil spirits and diseases will be driven further away. Passed from generation to generation, intertwining with the novelties of each time, kuker games have reached our days.
