Petko Gruev Staynov was a Bulgarian composer and academician who enriched Bulgarian musical culture and contributed to its development. His home was turned into a museum in 2002, and is a cultural monument of national importance.
One of the important cultural events of a local and national character in the Municipality of Kazanlak is the Petko Staynov Music Holidays. They are related to the life and work of the composer and are dedicated to Bulgarian and foreign classical music – choral and symphonic. The holidays are held annually at the end of November, with National Choir Festival being part of them in the recent years.
