The highlight of the Rose Festival is the Carnival Procession, which is organized every first Sunday of June. About ten thousand people from all over the world parade for an hour in a colourful carnival line through the streets of Kazanlak, depicting different moments of the history and multifaceted culture of the Rose Valley. The colourful carnival procession presents the past of Kazanlak with its main livelihood – rose production and rose sellers, known all over the world, also parade the emblematic "locals" from the Chudomir’s stories, sports teams, rockers, all the children from the kindergartens of Kazanlak, all schools, community centres, as well as many compositions from the country and abroad. Тhe procession is led by the Rose Queen and the entourage of the little Rose Princesses – the children from the kindergartens. Kukers drive away evil, and horsemen guard the colourful lines of the carnival procession. Representatives of various folklore formations ring the town with songs and dances in colourful strings of embroidery and traditional costumes. The scent of roses scattered by all the marchers is everywhere.
Considering the size of Bulgaria, the carnival procession in Kazanlak is the biggest annual street carnival in our country.
