The city is located in close proximity to the southwestern slopes of the Rila Mountains, in the valleys of the Struma and Blagoevgradska Bistrica Rivers. The tourist routes to the fabulously beautiful Rila and Pirin Mountains start from here. Of interest for the visitors of the city are the Varosha Revival Quarter with its unique Bulgarian architecture, the History Museum, Bachinovo Park, Kartala Ski Park, as well as the numerous summer festivals.
