The Gema-World museum of paleontology traces flora, fauna and human history, with the earliest exhibits dating back 290 million years. It contains over 5000 exhibits from different eras. It houses the world-famous find of a tooth from prehistoric man (hominid) from 7.2 million years ago and the best-preserved deinotherium skull in the world.
Do not miss Karasura and St. Athanasius the Great Monastery, which is considered the oldest active monastery in Europe. It was built in 344 and holds the world's only copy of the Rheims Gospel, on which French kings took their oaths until the 19th century.
