The only Stone Cutting Secondary School on the Balkans, which is second in Europe, is located in the village of Kunino. The place was chosen due to the availability of excellent raw materials - limestone, developed stone-cutting livelihood among the local population and a strategic railroad.

The deepest cave in Bulgaria, Raychova dupka (384 m), is located in the Steneto National Park.

In the village of Devino, you can find a chef with Micheline star. Dieci Boutique Restaurant is the home of the Italian Chiarini family and is located in the building of the old school in the village. They offer their guests one different experience with top guest chefs from all over the world.

Uzana locality - it is located at 1300 m average altitude and on the watershed ridge of Stara planina. There is the geographic centre of Bulgaria and the most popular ski slope in the region.

The History Museum in Omurtag is the only place where a real space suit can be seen. It belongs to the second Bulgarian astronaut, Alexander Alexandrov, who flew for 12 days in space on the Soviet space ship Soyuz-TM-5 in June, 1988.
