With a total length of 740 km, Dunav Ultra is the longest tourist cycling route in Bulgaria. It passes near or through 120 settlements by the Danube, thus connecting the northwesternmost village of Kudelin with the northeasternmost one – Durankulak. In the section Bregovo — Silistra, the Dunav Ultra route overlaps completely with the transcontinental route EuroVelo 6. To promote it, an international event is organised annually, in which cyclists from Bulgaria, Romania and the rest of the world take part. As Dunav Ultra's founder Boris Begamov says, "Travelling on the Dunav Ultra route is both a challenge and an adventure, as well as a philosophical return, deep in the roots of our own essence."
