Etar - regional ethnographic museum in the open - the first of its kind museum in the open shows the Bulgarian customs, culture and craftwork. The ethnographic complex accommodates the only exhibition in Bulgaria of devices running with water. That is why the water wheel became its emblem.
The town was established by the Roman emperor Marcus Ulpius Traianus (98 - 117 AD) in honour of his victory in the Dacian Wars (106 AD). The necropolis of the town is located on both sides of the road leading to Nové and around the communication leading westwards. 121 hills are preserved from it.
Ledenika cave – it is known with its miraculous blue-white waterfalls and diamond swords. It is 300 m long and it is divided into several halls, one of them with acoustics enabling performance of concerts in that hall.
Dormition of the Mother of God Monastery of Troyan – indisputably it is one of the most distinguishable symbols of the region. Third in size in the country, its architectural style is the one characteristic for the Revival period. Each year thousands of believers come to the temple to search for cure and forgiveness from the wonder-making icon of St. Bogoroditsa Troeruchitsa.
Tsarevets is located on а hill of the same name in the old part of Veliko Tarnovo and it has been turned into architectural and museum reserve, which shows the bloom of the Second Bulgarian Kingdom.
