Rila and Pirin Tourist Region covers the Rila Mountains, the Pirin Mountains and the valleys of the Struma and Mesta Rivers. It is rich in both natural and anthropogenic tourist resources (waters, forests, specific climate, mineral springs, diverse landscape, rich fauna, architectural reserves, interesting ethno-cultural background of the population, etc.) This allows the development of winter sports, hunting tourism, fishing, educational and spa tourism. The main centres are: Blagoevgrad, Bansko, Sandanski, Samokov, Sapareva Banya, Belitsa, Kostenets, Melnik, Petrich.
