Numerous routes and eco paths in Strandzha

1. Malko Tarnovo – The Monastery – Thracian dome tomb in the locality of Mishkova – peak Golyamo Gradishte

The route is possible only with the permission of the Border Police and a guide from the Tourist Centre in the town. 

2. Malko Tarnovo – locality of Daskalite – Thracian and Roman necropolis in the locality of Pròpada

Length – about 8 km. The route offers an introduction to the region-specific plant species and birds. A visit to the “City of the Dead” in the locality of Pròpada - an archaeological complex of various tombs, cist graves and mounds from the time of the Thracians and Romans, used for nearly 1000 years (5th - 3rd century BC to 3rd - 4th century AD). 

3. Malko Tarnovo - the TV tower – the locality of Stoilovska chuchurika – the locality of Berberovtsim mill – the locality of Dokuzak – Malko Tarnovo

Duration – 4.30 hours circular route. The initial point is Malko Tarnovo in the northeast direction along the asphalted road to Tsarevo. At about 3 km on the left there is a turn-off, which leads on a crushed stone pavement to the TV tower of the town. Along the way, you pass a spring water well, on the right of which there are several of the rarely seen in Strandzha evergreen smrica bushes. From the tower, a forest path heading north-east leads to the locality of Stoilovska chuchurika (spring). There is a hundred-year-old oak tree near the spring. From there, along a forest road in the north, you can reach the locality of Berberovtsim mill, where you can take a break with a picnic. The Dokuzak (Nine Springs) river flows through the area. After the break, continue along the road by the river and after about 30 minutes you will reach the nine springs, giving rise to the river of the same name. From there on the main road Stoilovo - M. Tarnovo we return to the starting point.

4. The village of Brashlyan – The locality of St. Panteleymon. This is one of the shortest walking routes in Brashlyan

In about 20 minutes you reach the St. Panteleymon chapel, located on the outskirts of the village. Do not miss the opportunity to feel the special atmosphere in the Strandzha “little monastery”, whose saint is considered by the people of Brashlyan as the patron saint of the village. The built shelter, the ice-cold water nearby, and the walk in the centuries-old beech-hornbeam forest guarantee you a relaxing holiday.

5. The village of Brashlyan – the locality of Two springs

The route starts in the village of Brashlyan, the length of which is about 2 km. It goes along an old carriage road that leads to the locality of Two Springs. On the place itself a tourist shelter was built. Ther e is a platform on the branches of a massive tree, suitable for birdwatching. The two springs that gave the name to the place have been restored. From here you can enjoy wonderful views of the emerald green wealth of Brashlyan. 

6. The locality of St. Panteleymon - the locality of Stoyanova chuka - the locality of St. Panteleymon

Length - 6 km circular route. At the beginning it coincides with an old carriage road, used in the past by the locals to get to Malko Tarnovo. It passes through various mixed beech-oak-hornbeam forests. If you choose this hike, you will be impressed by the dozens of centuries-old trees and the incredible bird diversity.
